Essent: a new energy supplier at PartnerPete

Energy supplier of 2.5 million customers

Essent one of the biggest energy suppliers in the Netherlands and is also active on the Belgian market. Essent started in 1988 as IJsselmij when the company build one of the first windmill parks in the Netherlands. Over the years the company fused, transformed and since the Dutch government no longer owns 2009 Essent. Local Dutch authorities used to own shares of all energy suppliers until 2009. This was due to the Law on Independent Network Management in Dutch; “Wet Onafhankelijk Netbeheer”. As of 2016 Essent became part RWE, one of the largest energy companies of Europe. 

First Green Energy supplier of the Netherlands

By getting rid of the coal-fired power plants, Essent was one of the first green energy suppliers of the Netherlands. The company is working every day to generate energy generated from re-usable sources, such as sun and wind. Essent also invests in innovative solutions for the use of power in the Netherlands. For example, in the field of electric driving and reducing the use of power in households.

Wide variety of contracts

Essent offers three different contract periods: one-year contracts, three-year contracts, and five-year contacts. The advantage of the contracts is that the prices are fixed and do not go up during the time of the contract. This is all the more important since nowadays the prices of energy and gas keep rising, even though the government announced that utility prices would go down.
