How does health insurance work in Holland?
Health insurance is compulsory for all people living and working in the Netherlands. With a basic health insurance policy you are insured for medical costs. In addition, you can choose for a supplementary insurance for those medical costs (like the dentist) which are not covered by the basic care package. Children up to the age of 18 are automatically “co-insured” through one of the parents.
