A safe home with the Smartwares RM218 Smoke Detector

Protect yourself and your family by being able to act in time in the event of a fire. Lives can be saved with the loud 85 dB alarm. The smoke detector has an integrated battery with a lifespan of 10 years, so you don’t have to replace the battery in between. It is important that there is at least one smoke detector on every floor in the house.

The Smartwares RM218 Smoke Detector uses an optical sensor. An optical sensor reacts quickly to smoldering fires, gives less false alarms and is environmentally friendly.

The smoke detector is equipped with a sleep and pause mode. The sleep mode can be used to temporarily switch off the smoke detector. This is useful, for example, if the battery is almost empty in the middle of the night and you want to temporarily switch off the warning tone. In addition, the pause button can be used in the event of a false alarm.

Installation
Smoke rises and that is why it is important to always mount the smoke detectors on the ceiling. You can easily mount the wireless smoke detector by means of a number of screws. Due to the security pin, the smoke detector can only be mounted if there is a battery in it.

Maintenance and testing
The operation of a smoke detector can be reduced by dust and dirt. It is therefore important to clean your smoke detector monthly with a slightly damp cloth and every six months with a vacuum cleaner. However, never use cleaning products or paint the alarm.

It is important to test the smoke detector in between by briefly pressing the test button. By testing the smoke detector monthly, you can be sure that it functions properly if a fire breaks out. If the battery is low, the smoke alarm will emit a short beep, then replace the smoke alarm with a new one.

PLEASE NOTE: Smoke detector mandatory from July 1, 2022
From 1 July 2022 it is mandatory in the Netherlands to have a smoke detector on every floor of your house. It is also mandatory to install a smoke detector in confined spaces through which an escape route runs. The legal obligation applies to owner-occupied and rental houses, new buildings and existing buildings.

A smoke detector lasts a maximum of 10 years. Therefore, check the date on your smoke detectors so that you purchase a new one every 10 years and always have well-functioning smoke detectors at home.
